The Tasman is the flat one: a suede clog-style slipper with a woven collar that works indoors and for a short step outside. The Tazz wears the same collar on a platform of about 4.5 cm. If you plan to walk in them, the Tasman is the sensible pick.

Retailer guides describe the Tasman as an indoor-outdoor shoe. The Tazz is a heavier, stiffer mule, and one guide says it feels heavier and more deliberate to walk in, while a later Tazz II adds a rocker shape at the toe and heel to ease that. The Tazz II uses a Sugarcane EVA outsole.

The platform figure is quoted as 1.75 inches (about 4.5 cm) by the guide that measures it, though a few sellers round it down to 1.5.

Sizing in UK terms

Labels use US sizes. Women’s UK is the US number minus 2, so a US 7 is a UK 5, and for men it is minus 1. The men’s Tasman II in black is listed from UK 6 to 12. Advice on half sizes varies: one guide says to go up a size if you are between two, another says true to size is the safest start for the Tazz. The Tazz tends to let the heel slip, and going smaller does not fix that.

Choose a seller who takes returns, because the braided collar does not stretch with wear.
