The Beats Pill released in June 2024 is the one to look for: it is rated IP67, charges over USB-C and is rated for up to 24 hours of play. The older Pill+ uses Lightning and has no water rating. For Black Friday 2026, check that a listing names the 2024 model.
The 2024 Pill against the Pill+
The Pill line goes back to 2012, and the older Pill+ was the last model before a long gap. The name returned in June 2024 on a new speaker with the same capsule shape and new parts inside.
| What to check | Beats Pill (2024) | Older Beats Pill+ |
|---|---|---|
| Water and dust rating | IP67 | None |
| Charging port | USB-C | Lightning |
| Rated battery | Up to 24 hours | Up to 12 hours |
| Bluetooth version | 5.3 | 4.0 |
| Weight | About 1.5 lb | About 1.65 lb |
The 2024 Pill also angles its drivers upward by about 20 degrees and comes with a removable lanyard. A Lightning port on the back is the quickest way to tell that a listing shows the older speaker.
Beats Pill speakers to compare
The Beats Pill is a portable Bluetooth speaker with a carrying strap. Check the color and the model name, since the older Pill+ is a different speaker.

Water, sand and the pool deck
IP67 means the speaker is sealed against dust and can survive being submerged in shallow water for a short time. In practice it shrugs off spray and some sand at the beach. It is not built as a rugged, drop-proof speaker, so a hard fall onto concrete is still a risk. Dry the USB-C port before you plug in a charger.
One port, three jobs
The single USB-C port on the back charges the speaker, plays lossless audio from a laptop or phone over a cable, and can top up your phone from the speaker’s battery. The cable is USB-C at both ends. That makes the Pill useful on a trip where you would rather carry one cable than three.
Two Pills can pair for stereo sound or play the same track louder together.
iPhone, Android and finding it
The Pill pairs with one touch on both iPhone and Android. Apple devices take firmware updates over the air while the speaker charges nearby. Android owners install the Beats app, which handles updates and lets you rename the speaker and check the battery. You can locate a misplaced Pill with Apple’s Find My or Google’s Find My Device.
The 2024 Pill launched in black, red and gold finishes. For headphones and earbuds from the same brand, start at the Beats Black Friday hub or the Beats headphones page.
Checks for a Pill listing
Look for “2024” or a USB-C port in the photos, since the Pill+ and earlier Pills share the shape. The speaker should come with its USB-C cable and lanyard. Confirm the condition is stated plainly, the seller has a returns window, and any warranty terms are spelled out.
