A self-emptying Roomba docks on a base that pulls dirt out of the robot into a sealed bag. For Black Friday 2026, check which base comes in the box. Older robots mark it with a plus sign, as in i7+ or j7+. Newer models name it in the title: AutoEmpty Dock for vacuums and AutoWash Dock for Combo robots.
What the plus sign means
The Clean Base arrived with the Roomba i7+ in September 2018. It empties the robot’s bin into a disposable bag inside the base, and on models such as the i7+ and s9+ the plus sign means it is included. The same robot without the plus is sold without the base.
Newer Roombas drop the symbol. “Plus” now names a series, such as the Roomba Plus 415 Combo, and those models ship with an AutoWash Dock that empties debris and also looks after the mop pads. So “Plus” with a number and “+” after a letter are two different things.

iRobot lists up to three months of emptying for the Max 715 AutoEmpty Dock and for the docks on the July 2026 Combo robots. Older Clean Base claims vary by model, so read the figure for the exact robot.

A robot that skips the base
The Roomba 205 DustCompactor takes another route. It was part of iRobot’s March 2025 line-up, and iRobot says it packs debris away inside the robot for months instead of emptying it into a base. You still empty the robot’s bin by hand when it fills, so check the listing for what comes in the box.
Bags and running costs
A base is only as useful as its bag supply. iRobot’s replacement bag 3-pack fits the Clean Base on i, s, j and Essential series robots, the Combo j9+ Auto-Fill dock and the Combo 10 Max AutoWash dock. A solid red light on the Clean Base means the bag needs changing or is not seated, and a full bag can clog the base so the robot stops emptying.
That list does not name the 2025 or 2026 docks. iRobot describes carbon odor-control bags for the Max 715 and Max 775 docks, so match any spare bags to the dock name.
Before you buy
Look at the photos as well as the title: the base should match the robot it is sold with. Ask whether a used base includes a fresh bag. If you are buying a base on its own, check that the listing names your robot’s series.

Is the Roomba Plus 415 the same as a Roomba with a plus sign?
No. On older robots such as the i7+ or j7+, the plus sign means the Clean Base is included. Plus without a symbol is a newer series name, as in the Roomba Plus 415 Combo, and those models come with an AutoWash Dock.
