The Garmin fēnix for Black Friday 2026 in the UK is mainly a choice of generation and screen: the fēnix 8 in AMOLED or Solar, the connected fēnix 8 Pro, the solar-only fēnix 7 Pro, or the fēnix E, a 47 mm AMOLED model with fewer extras. Cases run from 42 to 51 mm, and Solar screens last longest.

Choosing between AMOLED and Solar

AMOLED or Solar is the first decision on a fēnix 8, launched in August 2024. The AMOLED version is bright and colourful and comes in 43, 47 and 51 mm. The Solar version has an always-on memory-in-pixel screen behind a lens that charges in daylight, in 47 and 51 mm only.

Battery is the trade. At 51 mm, Garmin rates the AMOLED for up to 29 days in smartwatch mode and the Solar for up to 48 days. Both versions share a 40-metre dive rating, leakproof metal buttons, a speaker and microphone, and an LED torch. Titanium bezels and sapphire lenses are options, and sapphire models carry topographic maps.

For the brand background and the Forerunner running line, see the Garmin Black Friday UK guide.

The fēnix 8 Pro

The fēnix 8 Pro, from September 2025, was Garmin’s first watch with inReach satellite messaging and LTE built in. Without a phone it can send messages, make calls, share LiveTrack and trigger an SOS. It comes as AMOLED in 47 and 51 mm and as a MicroLED version in 51 mm. These features need a subscription, and Garmin notes that coverage differs by country.

Garmin fēnix watches to compare

Match the generation and the version in the listing title, such as fēnix 8 AMOLED or Solar. Then check the case size and look for the charging cable in the photos.

fēnix 7 Pro and fēnix E

The fēnix 7 Pro series from May 2023 uses solar charging and a memory-in-pixel screen on every model, with an LED torch and multi-band GNSS. The name tells you the size: 7S Pro is 42 mm, 7 Pro is 47 mm and 7X Pro is 51 mm, each in a standard or Sapphire edition. A listing that says “fēnix 7” without “Pro” is the earlier model, so check its product page.

The fēnix E launched with the fēnix 8 and is the simpler option. It is 47 mm only, with a 1.3-inch AMOLED screen under Gorilla Glass. Compared with the fēnix 8 it drops the torch, the sensor guard and the inductive dive buttons, and has 16GB of storage rather than 32GB. It keeps topographic, ski and golf maps.

Before you buy a fēnix

Work through the title one word at a time. Is it a 7, an 8, an 8 Pro or an E? Does it say AMOLED, Solar or MicroLED? What is the case in millimetres, and does it say Sapphire? Once the model is clear, check that the charging cable is included. For a used watch, look closely at the lens and bezel, and make sure the seller has removed it from their Garmin account.

Frequently asked questions

Do the fēnix 8 Pro satellite and LTE features work in the UK?

Garmin says the inReach satellite and LTE features need an active subscription and that coverage varies by country, so check Garmin's coverage details for the UK before choosing the Pro for those features. The rest of the watch works without a subscription.

Which fēnix is the smallest?

The 43 mm fēnix 8 AMOLED and the 42 mm fēnix 7S Pro are the smallest cases. The fēnix 8 Solar starts at 47 mm, and the fēnix E comes in 47 mm only.

What does Sapphire mean on a fēnix?

It refers to a sapphire crystal lens, which resists scratches better than standard glass. On the fēnix 8, sapphire models also come with preloaded topographic maps.
