Nespresso Black Friday 2026 UK: Vertuo or Original Machines

Nespresso sells two pod systems in the UK, Vertuo and Original, and each machine takes only its own pods. For Black Friday 2026, choose the system before the model: Vertuo brews everything from an espresso to a large mug or carafe, while Original is built around espresso and lungo, with milk models for cappuccino.

A Nestlé brand from Switzerland

Nespresso is part of Nestlé and is headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland. The machines are made and sold under partner names. In the UK you will see De’Longhi, Krups, Magimix and Sage versions, so one model can carry several names and model codes.

Vertuo first launched in the US and Canada in 2014, built for the larger cups North American drinkers wanted, and later came to the UK.

Vertuo or Original

Which? notes that only Vertuo pods fit Vertuo machines. Original machines are the wider choice for compatible pods from other brands, since the Original patents began to expire in 2012.

Pick a product

• Nespresso Vertuo machines: the Vertuo Pop, Next and Plus, plus the Vertuo Lattissima with milk.
• Nespresso Original machines: the CitiZ, Essenza Mini and Lattissima range for espresso and milk drinks.

Other brands are on the UK Black Friday hub.

Reading a UK Nespresso listing

Look for Vertuo or Original in the title first. Then check the maker and model code, as the same machine can be sold by more than one maker under different codes. A UK machine should have a three-pin plug and be rated for 230V; a machine built for the US runs on 120V and needs more than a plug adaptor. Note whether an Aeroccino milk frother or a pod selection is included, as Which? suggests a bundle with a frother for milky coffee.
