Coffee-only machines: CitiZ and Essenza Mini
The CitiZ by De’Longhi is a slim machine. John Lewis lists a 1 litre removable water tank, a 19 bar pump, heat-up in about 25 seconds and auto-off after 9 minutes. It makes espresso and espresso lungo, has no milk system, and measures H25.5 x W12 x D37.4 cm. Which? points to its fold-down grid, which lets a taller glass fit under the spout.
The Essenza Mini, as its name suggests, is built to be small, and it brews the same two Original cup sizes. Check the listed dimensions against your worktop, since editions differ by maker.
Machines with milk: the Lattissima range
Which? lists the Lattissima One, Touch and Pro as the Original models with built-in milk frothers. They make cappuccino and latte from one machine, with no separate jug to heat.
A built-in frother saves counter space and a step, but the milk parts need rinsing after use, so check that a listing includes every piece of the milk system. If you prefer a coffee-only machine, Which? suggests buying it bundled with an Aeroccino frother, which heats and froths milk on its own.
Pods: Original only
